Developed by Irrational Games and published by Sierra, it places the player in the action as the captain of an elite police squad called ‘SWAT’, which stands for ‘Special Weapons and Tactics’. The player is given a full loadout of customizable pistols, grenades, SMG’s and stealth tools to master every situation.
The game features a career mode which opens up a list of preset missions which involves hostage situations, bomb threats and many more. It also features online modes to allow players to have fun online with other people. The game functions much like a police squad, with players heavily urged to make use of their team mates. Sometimes, run and gun isn’t the best option and SWAT 4 lets you play just how you want.
Players are able to order their team mates to split into several groups and clear different entries to a room, open doors and clear them via using smoke grenades and a neverending list of possibilties. Don’t like a stealth approach? Blast doors open with explosive charges or blow the lock off with a shotgun.
If players get bored of the preset missions, they can use the custom mission creator to build any level they can dream of, by adding as many hostages, terrorists, selecting any map, using any weapon loadout, you can create any situation you can think of. SWAT 4 is a fun, fast paced game in which you have to use your team to survive. It’s addictive and will keep you playing for hours.
